Last week was my first week of stepping into the role of Secretary/Treasurer in my BNI chapter and supporting the group over the next 6 months as part of the new leadership team.
I agreed to take on this role as @Richard Preedy, my predecessor, was moving up into the role of President, and I wanted to be able to give the chapter consistency and I knew I would work with him and @dan Hayward.
Running a Virtual Assistants business means I have the majority of the skills needed for this role – organisation, good communication, supporting the President and Vice President to achieve the chapter goals and also giving myself some exposure out of my comfort zone and standing up at the front of the room presenting.
It felt slightly daunting right at the beginning, but Create Momentum is all about providing this sort of business support, so it was a great place to “put my money where my mouth is” and support the group.
That’s exactly how I feel about charity fundraising walks. I am so fortunate to have a growing business with some incredibly supportive clients. Many of them have already been incredibly generous in supporting the walk this weekend. Putting my money where my mouth is and setting the target of achieving 50km in one day will push me physically with 12 hours on the course. There can be times in my working life when I have a client who requires an intensive period of support, and that has pushed me into providing long hours and often many late nights. So, I consider this to be part of that resilience training so I am an even better resource for my clients.
